The Innovation PNG 2019 Summit attracted business professionals from the government and private sector for a full day of tech talk and innovation platforms.
Attendees from nasfund included representatives of the IT and the Business Development Team.
Prime Minister, Hon. James Marape in his opening remarks said that Papua New Guinea has a lot to offer.
“While we have a wealth of natural resources in the mineral resource sector, oil, gas, and petroleum. We have natural organic resources that are unique to what other world economies can offer”, he said.
“And technology has opened doors for us,” he said.
He encouraged participants to approach the government of the day with innovative ideas to help improve systems, processes, accessibility to services to better the livelihood of everyone.
“ We have a lot of problems, let us be solution providers,” he said.
Some of the key points that the team took away and was vital in the operations of the FUND was;
•The importance of Cyber-security in organisations.
•Innovation platforms have improved the working cultures of organisations.
•Real Impacts: PNG reaching international markets.
•Technology focus: Education, Agribusiness, and more.
The Highlight of the summit was having to listen to young Papua New Guineans who have tapped into innovative ways to help improve services in their communities, some of them included;
•Jive Market – providing accessibility in purchasing e-pay agents dotted around Port Moresby, which has been rolling it out to other parts of the country.
•PNG flying labs – using drones to fly polio vaccines to the most rural areas of PNG.
•Beach Accounting and Advisory – providing accounting services using cloud for SMEs.
The summit introduced in PNG an APP that involved registration, program outline, interactive chat rooms, activity feed that also provided all delegates to be visible on the App to make the introduction easier among participants.
