NASFUND & Porgera Joint Venture partnership hosts first SME Workshop in Porgera
“Porgera is growing with business minded individuals, however, we do not have the same opportunities for wealth management and a savings culture. That is why having NASFUND and the SME Corporation here under Barrick sponsorship is very welcoming to the community.” Porgera Chamber of Commerce President Nickson Pakea, made this comment at the inaugural financial awareness workshop sponsored by Barrick from the 5th to the 9th of August 2019 in Enga Province. The event attracted close to 300 participants from selected SMEs in the township and various sub-contractors of the mine. Team Leader New Business Melanie Lavaki, said the NASFUND team spoke to the participants on the importance of saving for retirement. The team also identified eighteen new employers while in Porgera.
