Buk bilong Pikinini thanks NASFUND

Buk bilong Pikinini thanks NASFUND

Buk bilong Pikinini held an event on Friday, 22nd of May at its centre at Koki Markets to thank its platinum sponsor NASFUND Limited.

NASFUND has provided office space free of charge to Buk bilong Pikinini from 2010 to 2014 and now provides a large space for BbP’s Head Office at BSP Haus at a reduced rate. NASFUND was one of the first organisations to support Buk bilong Pikinini and without this support BbP would not be where it is today with 16 libraries in operation across Papua New Guinea.

NASFUND's CEO, Mr. Ian Tarutia said: “Reading and writing is not a privilege, it is a right. Children of our nation should be given every opportunity at an early stage of their life to be literate so they can grow up to be better students in school and later in life, be well rounded, well informed and better educated adults…NASFUND is proud to be a partner in supporting our future generation through the Buk bilong Pikinini program."

Anne-Sophie Hermann, Founder of Buk bilong Pikinini said: “NASFUND is a great PNG company with a true sense of Corporate Social Responsibility - having supported a number of grassroots organisations to get off to a good start. I would like to sincerely thank the past and present management of Nasfund for their holistic support for Buk bilong Pikinini and initiatives, which has enabled us to support many vulnerable children across Papua New Guinea with access to books and the opportunity to learn to read and write in our libraries.”

BbP's Executive Officer, Luke Ebb said: “Buk bilong Pikinini would like to thank one of its longest-serving and most loyal sponsors-NASFUND- for their incredible generosity in providing office space to Buk bilong Pikinini located at BSP Haus, Harbour City. With NASFUND’s support, and the support of our Platinum Sponsors, we have been able to grow and improve the quality of our programs over the last 6 years to a point where we are now bringing literacy to thousands of families across PNG.”

Buk bilong Pikinini is able to operate successfully thanks to financial and in-kind donations from corporate sponsors in Papua New Guinea and Australia.
